The first three tracks were recorded at the City Hall, New York and finds him in the company of New Orleans jazz giant; Bunk Johnson. The remainder of the album is taken up with the complete concert performed by Lead Belly at the University of Texas. This was to be his last recorded performance. In addition to being a master musician Lead Belly was also a superb entertainer. His ability to put his audiences both small, intimate parties and large concert audiences, at ease allowed him to produce some of his best performances. Blues, Jazz, Ballads, Work Hollers and Spirituals are served up, often with the aid of his thundering twelve-string guitar, to enthralled audiences as this CD is further proof that Lead Belly was indeed a major figure in the history of Afro-American music. This CD comes with illustrated, extensive, booklet notes and detailed discography.
