In the early years, as Document Records began to grow at a prolific rate, several independent labels where brought into the Document fold; Blues Document with its 6000 series and Jazz Perspectives with its 1500 series and the remnants of the Matchbox Blues 2000 Series are typical examples. Rather than dissolve these catalogues into the main 5000 series, there original catalogue numbers have been retained. Consequently genres cross over from one series to another and artists, such as Big Bill Broonzy, Memphis Minnie, Big Joe Williams, Lead Belly and other can be found in more than one series.
